ALRIGHT! Obama’s administration is putting forward legislation that will essentially “tax the wealthy to keep everyone healthy.” This long overdue surge into health-care spending and structure is definitely a welcome change to everyone save maybe .01% of Americans. Multi-millionaires need to understand that every dollar that they make is in some way connected to the other 99.99% of this country. Essentially, keeping the lower class healthy is in their best interest as it will only help to sustain regularity of business.
WTF? Obama “ousted” former CEO of General Motors Rick Wagoner with an eleven million dollar severance package? Eleven million dollars awarded to the guy who is responsible for running the countries most prominent automobile conglomerate into the ground? You call that him being ousted? No no no my friends, Manuel Zelaya was ousted. Zelaya isn’t even allowed to touch his foot to the ground of his native country. Rick Wagoner was given a bonus + indefinite vacation. Is anyone even paying attention?

Back in late may, President Obama expressed his confidence in a woman that he believed would more than just fill a vacant seat on the supreme court but serve as a refreshing addition due to her diversity and life experience. Judge Sonia Sotomayor, has been revered by Democrats for her extensive experience and incredible long-term record, but antagonized by Republicans for a few particular off the cuff remarks and a series of overturned cases.
There are two main arguments against her. The first of these deals with a comment that she made about how a Latina women was better fit to pass judgment than a white male. Her justification for this comment deals with the idea that she was trying to inspire a group of young minority women and out of context the comment sounds worse than what she actually intended to portray. During the hearings she has admitted that her comment was in fact a “bad choice of words…” and has retracted them because her “words…failed.”
The other argument deals with Judge Sotomayor’s feelings on what basis cases should ultimately be judged. This argument comes from a comment about her life experience being an important asset to her as a judge. She explains that while it is important to remain unbiased and to examine all aspects of a case, a judge must also recognize personal biases, identify them, analyze how they may affect the way she is interpreting any given case and put them aside in order to judge within and according to the extent of the law.
All in all, however, the outcome seems evident. The media remains extremely confident that she will be confirmed by the end of this week despite the redundant questioning that she has been subjected to by Republican senators in a series of hearings. I guess there is just something about a Puerto Rican girl from the Bronx that be leaving dudes trippin.
