“Are you ready to glow in the dark? Crash landed alone on an unknown planet for the entirety of his Glow in the Dark set with huge space scapes behind him, Kanye West takes you on a musical and visual odyssey that no antihero has taken you on before. This deluxe volume represents another leg of that voyage, giving you a gorgeous photographic ride through West’s life, both on and offstage, as well as into the intimate technologies of his creative process with top visual artists of today. The instrumentals are tracks from his set remastered to echo John Williams’s famous score (”Jesus Walks” is Vader’s theme). In personal sketches and reference imagery, 3-D models of the holodeck-ian stage, and costume designs (including his Grace Jones–inspired outfits for opening act Rihanna), West once again expands a medium and triumphs in the artist’s epic struggle to be creative. With a CD including previously unreleased instrumentals from the show as well as an interview with tour collaborator Spike Jonze, the book is not only a memento of one of the most successful musical performances of the year, but it is also an experience all its own.” – AMAZON.COM

The recent plans to add a 75 story Goliath of a building along side the Museum of Modern Art is attracting a lot of criticism from locals as well as already exasperated commuters, but there is no denying that the giant would add a particular aesthetic flare to the NYC skyline that seems almost too amazing to pass up!

PS3 owners will now be able to run streaming movies from their homes. Netflix is going to add the service to Sony’s Playstation 3 before the year ends. Now if they only had better titles we would be in business. (I know that there library is still growing)

Don’t think there’s an art scene on Long Island? Get ready to be proven wrong on November 13 at Special Sauce in Huntington. Five Long Island–based artists are coming together to display five pieces each in a show called FIVEXFIVE, curated by ALLINTIME and Candido Crespo. ALLINTIME is the work of Edwin Bolta Jr., a painter who melds street and high art to create a singular aesthetic. He believes this show can be a leap forward, not just for visual art, but for all facets of the arts on Long Island—where most people believe you have to hop on a train to experience some culture. Candido Crespo’s art blends graffiti and illustration, taking some cues from his training in graphic design. Patrick Keefer does stencil work based on photographs he’s taken, creating pieces that are both precise and surreal. Andres Gallardo, Jr. has developed a more emotive take on pop art, and Michael Colon uses a wide range of tools to put an urban twist his modern aesthetic. Each of these accomplished artists has an original vision, but all five will be displaying a large joint work that will represent the emergence of a community. Special Sauce—best known for its skate clothing—has supported local artists for years by displaying and selling their work, but with this show they are taking their support for Long Island’s art scene to the next level.

Short film by Spike Jonze starring Kanye West. Love how this was shot, but then again I’m a big fan of Spike Jonze. In my opinion Ye does pretty good acting, I’m guessing he’s killing is alter ego at the end of this film. What you think?
